It's been a while...

Sorry for the delay in posting, a lot has happened in the last week or two. I will try to recap the best I can...forgive me for the delay and if I miss anything. So back on the 2nd, Jayce had his one month check up at the Dr's office. Everything looks good. He's weighing in at 10lbs even, and measuring 22.25" long. His length is in the 75 percentile, and his weight is climbing (from 48th to 56th). He also got his one month vaccines, though he wasn't too happy about that.  Our goal for this month is to work on tummy time. Dr. said to aim for about 30 minutes total throughout the day, of tummy time on the floor (while "tummy time" on our chests counts a little, he needs to get used to the floor perspective and work on building his neck and arm muscles - he tries to hold his head up as it is, but his head is huge, and it will take a while for those muscles to be strong enough).

The baby sitters are getting bored, the baby doesn't move...

And when he does, they miss it

The next day we lounged around the house while Justin took my tire into get fixed. I was at the grocery store' on Wed, the 2nd when I noticed my back tire was completely flat. I had apparently been driving all over town and on freeways with it all day. Somewhere I drove over a screw/nail. Later that day my family came over for dinner.

Friday we went to Grandma Karen's for dinner to say goodbye to Aunt Sandy (she went back to Chicago on Saturday). Saturday was a quiet day at home, a pj day if you will. We did manage to give the dogs a short walk to relieve some of their energy, but it wasn't long as they aren't quite sure how to walk with the stroller without a second person to walk them.

Sunday we got some bad news. Heaven has a new angel, Grandma Amy lost her battle with cancer. So that morning was spent scrambling trying to get the three of us booked on a flight to Pittsburgh, packed, and the dogs shipped off to Grandma Karen's. Needless to say we were on a 2pm flight to Pittsburgh. Jayce did amazingly well. We couldn't sit with Justin, but Jayce charmed the pants off of our seat neighbors, sleeping the whole time, only waking up to eat. He even got his first set of wings from the Delta flight attendant on our Detroit connection.

Bath time in Pittsburgh, gotta love the Blooming Bath from Aunt Alex!

All the Narry men

We spent a week in Pittsburgh, hanging out with the family and saying goodbye to Grandma Amy. Jayce was such a good boy the whole trip. He slept through the viewings, never cried the whole time we were at the funeral home. He was alert through the funeral service, but quiet. He saved his fussy times for when we were back at the house. He was pretty much perfect. Grandpap, Uncle Dillon, and Uncle Travis all fell in love with the little monkey. The boys fought over rights to holding and burping Jayce. By the end of the trip we even had them changing a few diapers.

Jayce met the whole extended family, and everyone loved him. I only wish he could have met his Grandma. She was such an amazing woman who brought so much love and light into the room with her. He'll meet her someday, but until then she is looking down on us, keeping Jayce safe...

We met up with Justin's friends one night while there, and Jayce had his first bonfire. Thanks to Mike, Sarah, and the kiddie we had a few warm sweaters/jackets to keep Jayce warm. It's a little hard to find winter clothes in phoenix right now. They also loaned us their pack'n'play so we wouldn't have to bring ours for Jayce to sleep in.

Jayce did really well on return flight as well. We flew Southwest this time. It was a little amusing, people would board after us and get excited that the aisle seat was still available, then saw us with Jayce, and said "I don't think so, I don't want to sit with a baby". We did have a very nice lady who wasn't afraid sit next to us. And she won, he sleep the first 3 hours of the 4.5 hr flight, ate, and was  happy and alert for a bit, then slept through the descent and landing, never cried once.  She told me multiple times how he was such a good baby.

Today we are putting house back in order, buying food, picking up dogs, laundry, and running errands.  Jayce was such a good boy on this trip he deserves a new activity pad.  I went out and bought him a jungle mat with over head bars for him to look at and eventually play with.  He seems to love it! In other news, we are starting to see REAL smiles!!! Not just the gass grins! Its so freaking amazing, love it!

What's not to love

Later this week we will be hanging out with the family.  Uncle Mike and Aunt Emily are in town.  We will also be saying good by to Uncle Scott, who passed away last week.  May has gotten off to a rough start...
