So much going on!

So last week, I was MIA, I'm sorry.  I was laid up in bed/on the couch Wednesday night through the weekend with the crud that seems to be going around.  Even sick, Jayce and I managed to get out of the house Saturday afternoon to catch Samantha's soccer game (her, Schuyler, and Sienna were in town for Sam's soccer tournament).

This week/end has been packed full of things.

Wednesday and Thursday Jayce went to Grandma Karen's while Justin cleaned the house for me.  It was the most amazing thing he could have done for me for V-Day.  Since I was ill over the weekend, I didn't have enough energy to give the house the cleaning it needed, especially considering I/we were hosting Alex's baby shower this weekend.

Thursday (Valentines Day), the two amazing men in my life took me out for dinner.  We went to AhSo for some teppenyaki.  Jayce did so good.  There was another little boy there, born exactly one month before Jayce, and he was much more "needy".  Jayce just sat contentedly in his highchair and watched the chef doing his thing.  He even had some rice, chicken, shrimp, and veggies off of mine and Justin's plates.  Though, I'd say his favorite was the mushrooms and shrimp (this kid has expensive tastes).

Friday I took the day off of work to get some shower things done.  I took the dogs over to my mom's house, since I really didn't need them around for the prep or the party.  Then I got to work baking.  I whipped up some cookies, and some sausage balls while Justin kept Jayce occupied (and helped with a bit more tidying up).  After the J-man went to bed, then the real work began, all the decorating!!!  Though I must say, the house looked pretty darn good.  And good thing to, cause some of the decorations will be reused for Jayce's first birthday! (SOOOO Excited, got the theme figured out - Let's hear it for Dr. Seuss!!!)

And in a bit of horrible, no good, dirty rotten, mothering news, I made my first major ooopps with Jayce.  He's getting quite heavy, and very squirmy when he wants be be down, crawling around getting into trouble.  Well towards the end of the shower, J was doing his best to try and wiggle his way out of my arms, and as I was readjusting my arms to better hold the squirmy one, he changed tactics and back flipped off my stomach....onto the floor.  I felt so bad, he landed on his forehead on the tile.  It made me feel pretty crappy as a mother.  Granted, it is the first time he's ever really fallen, which in it of itself is amazing, but the fact that it feels like I dropped him makes me feel like the worst mother in the world.  Fortunately he is fine, was back to himself within an hour, no signs of a concussion, just a decent sized goose-egg on his forehead (that his incredibly long hair hides).

Today has been a fairly quiet day, just church and some naps.  A bit of a recovery day after the events of Friday and Saturday.
