Changes Galore!

Holy cow, this has been a crazy week!  So much has happened!

The week started out innocently enough, and we sure got a lot of outdoor play in.  The weather has been beautiful!  The kids and I have been taking as many walks as we can on our own, and with Sunny and Sufjan before this weather heats up too much and walks are out of the question.

Little miss is moving right along in her foods.  This week we added zucchini, avocado, and carrots to the mix.  All were met with excitement.  I don't want to jinx it, but I don't think she will be as picky of an eater as Jayce can be.  So far she just wants food.  Period.

On Wednesday, Little Miss got herself into a seated position all on her own.  Now when I go to get her from her crib after naps or in the morning, she's usually sitting there waiting for me.  *Usually* with a smile on her face too.  She is such a happy little girl.

That day I also attempted to take some pictures of the little man to use for his birthday invitations.  Below is one of my favorites (though, not the one we used for the invitations)

We also bit the bullet and gave Jayce a big boy bed on Wednesday.  I have to say, it was a much smoother transition that what we had built up in our heads.  I took Jayce to Target to pick out his big boy sheets while Daddy bought the mattress, and we converted the bed that evening.  Given that his crib converted to a full-sized bed, we opted to forgo the traditional bed rails/mesh bumper things to keep him in, and opted for pool noodles under the fitted sheet on each side.  While I'm sure this wouldn't have kept him in a twin bed, he hasn't fallen out of the bed once *knock on wood*.  For the time being though, we have put the crib mattress on one side of the bed, and his bean bag on the other just in case.

He loves his big boy bed though.  We are still working on not using it as a trampoline, but overall, he can get in and out on his own (the jungle steps that Grandma got him for his birthday have a new home at the foot of his bed, just for this purpose).  We haven't caught him trying to escape, and every time I go in there, he is in his bed, though I'm sure he does get out when he's not supposed to.  I've found a few books in his bed that were previously on a shelf of his bookcase, and not reachable from his bed.  Oh well.  We did, however, put a child-proof cover on the interior door knob so that he can't escape the room on his own....for now.

It breaks my heart to see my little boy in his big bed.  He went from looking so big in his crib, to looking so little in his bed.  But given the ease of this transition, I'm pretty sure he was ready for it (and we didn't want to have to deal with him climbing out of his crib, which he hadn't done yet, but was big enough to do if he'd tried).  The super plus side....there's room for all of us to cuddle together during story time...all 4 of us!

So on top of the hormonal mess that I've been since we moved J into a big boy bed, Ash added to it.  Last week I mentioned that she wasn't quite crawling forward yet.  Well, now she is.  There's no stopping her.  Friday night, for the first time, she put her mind to it and crawled forward trying to get to the puzzle pieces I've been repeatedly taking away from her/pulling out of her mouth.  That night, after bath time, she was in her jammies, she crawled out of the bathroom while I was trying to get Jayce into his jammies.  Several stories were interrupted as I tried to keep her ON the bed, though she was trying to crawl headfirst off the bed every chance she got.

So yeah, life just got super interesting up in here.  I never get to sit down if both the kids are awake....maybe it will help with the weight I'm still trying to lose...

I finally put the digital picture frame back up, now that Jayce has a little more restraint with our things, and updated the pictures on it too.  Every picture that comes up that has him or Ashlynn in it, has "sissy".  He correctly pics out Me and Justin, but every kid in the picture is "sissy".  Staring at that kept him occupied for 45 minutes this morning!

So long for now!  While this week has been amazing in all the things the kids have accomplished, it breaks my heart how fast they are growing.  Hoping for a little more quiet and stability this week....My heart needs a break.

Love you all
