With the *slightly* cooler weather, we have been taking more advantage of our zoo membership lately. We headed over there as a family on Tuesday. Both kids loved watching the jaguar pace in its cage, and were in heaven petting the goats. We attempted to watch the zoo keepers feed the tortoises pumpkins, but someone wasn't content to just watch it, and started throwing a temper tantrum when we couldn't go in and feed them ourselves...
Thursday we hung out at home and played all morning. In the afternoon we went over to our friend's house to paint pumpkins. In theory, it's cleaner and less messy than carving them…but not with our kids….my biggest challenge was keeping A from eating the paint loaded paintbrush (hence there are no pictures of her at said event).
On Friday we headed back at the zoo to hang out with Grandma, Uncle Mike, Aunt Emmy, and Henry. We also met Erica and Elsie there too. This time around we got to see the giraffes, orangutans (including the new baby orangutan), monkeys, and elephants.
Saturday was a difficult day. I was in a bad frame of mind, J and A were both having off days. It was just a difficult day all around. For example; I decided to take the kids for a walk. Usually this brings me out of my funk and I'm able to make it through the day relatively easily. Usually. That is all assuming that the kids aren't counteracting my efforts. We did our 4.5 mile loop through the neighborhood. Around the last mile J decided he wanted to play with his friend and proceeded to scream and throw himself around in the stroller until we got home. Once home, he stood in the garage (with the large garage door closed, and the lights off) and scream his friend's name, banging on the big garage door, for 15 minutes. The story continues, but you get the idea.

Today was light years better than yesterday. Though J woke up at 5 this morning, he only crawled into bed with me and proceeded to sleep until just past 7. To which I'm eternally grateful. The rest of the day was pretty good. We had Mickey Mouse pancakes for breakfast (which apparently are eaten ears first, like a chocolate bunny), a nice walk with our friends, and lots of play time.
Until next week friends! Have a happy, and safe Halloween!!!!
