Getting back to Getting Out

To say life has slowed down would be a lie.  However we have found our normal groove again, and I've been getting out with the kids on the weekend as much as possible.  And while the weather is nice we've been outside in the backyard (or the park) as much as possible.

J had his 4-year well check and is weighing in at 42lbs (89%) and is 41.75" tall (81%) and looking great, right on track in all areas.

The boxes (blocks) from the party are still hanging around and we still drag them out to the yard (or the living room if its too hot/rainy) to build towers and knock them down.

B has been sleeping much better overall.  We've had a few rough nights here and there but since these top two teeth have broken through the rough nights are much rarer.

Last weekend we met up with some friends for a long morning at the zoo.  EVERYONE left there exhausted.  The kids all played well together, and played HARD.  In all we spent over three hours wandering around and playing musical strollers/wagons, but the weather was perfect so we had to make the most of it (it won't be long before it will be a challenge to spend two hours there).

J recently discovered our sole umbrella - the one I've had for YEARS and I think this past weekend rain shower was the first time it's ever been used.  I may have taught him to sing "singing in the rain"…and I may have a video of him dancing with the umbrella singing it :)

Yesterday, B woke up entirely too early, and J wasn't far behind him.  For the first time in a long time he was up before A.  I asked him want he wanted to do, and he said he wanted to go to the Children's Museum.  So after an abbreviated first nap for B (I woke him after an hour so we could go since they open at 9…and we like to get there close to opening) we loaded up and headed out for our first trip to the museum/zoo/etc with me as the only adult (grandma usually goes or we meet friends there…makes it a little less stressful on me when I have to sit in one place to feed B).  Only to discover that they were closed for a private event.  So thinking on my feet, we ended up at the Science Center…only to discover that they don't open to the public until 10 (it was 930).  So we bought a membership (pays for itself in two visits…and gets you in an hour early on the weekends), and had a blast all exploring together for the first time (I haven't been there since I was a kid).  The kids have asked multiple times today to go back, with daddy, soon.

After yesterday's excursion, and B's apparent early morning routine, I was pretty spent and decided to quit while I was ahead on great family outings, and we had a low key day.  We played a lot around the house and took a brief trip to grandmas.  Overall, it was a really nice weekend.

Hope you all had a good one as well.  See you next week (maybe….or maybe the week after).
