Everyday Little Miss becomes more and more interactive with her brother. They are starting to "play" more together. She loves copying what he does, and chasing him around the house. He (as you'd imagine) is quite a bit faster than her, and usually ends up lapping her. But she doesn't seem to mind. It almost seems as if she thinks she's being chased instead of doing the chasing for a bit.
Late Monday night Aunt Stacie came into town for work. She stayed at the house here with us, so the kids helped me change the sheets and make the bed in the guest room for her. What used to take me 10 minutes is now a 45 minute tumbling session...
Wednesday was a home day, but still eventful. We got to play with Auntie Stacie before she left town, and even got to soak up some sun with the "cold front" that dropped our temperatures back into the 70s for the day!
Little Man let Little Miss drive his car, but only for a few minutes. He did eventually want the drivers seat back, but insisted she sit next to him in the passenger seat. They even made room for the dog between them/on the floor board.
Friday was this mama's 30th birthday, and we celebrated by going about our usual day, with a few minor adjustments. Justin woke up and cooked me some delicious breakfast foods before I had to go into to work. I had a court commitment and therefore shuffled my hours from a 630 start to a 1030 start. I got to spend breakfast with the kids, and then had to head in. I got home in time for Justin to leave for work, and the kids and I hung out and played in the backyard. Overall a quiet evening. (Justin and I celebrated last week when we had Allen watch the kids for the evening)
Saturday we had Tumbling class, and Little Man found a new hiding place in the refrigerator...
After nap time we hit the toys hard, and eventually ended up in a friends backyard playing in their kiddie pool.
Today for Mother's Day, Justin got up with Little Man when he decided 630 was an appropriate time to wake up. The three of us had breakfast together while Little Miss slept (till 840 amazingly! I usually wake her by 8 so that we don't mess with naps and ultimately bedtimes, but knowing today was going to be anything other than normal I just let her sleep). Then we hit the road; Justin to work (or so I thought) and us to Brunch. We sung out to Tempe to pick up Uncle Allen, then over to the Club for a Mother's Day Brunch with Grandma and Grandpa.
After Brunch we headed back to Grandma's house to relax and enjoy the rest of the day. While we were playing, Justin walked in. Instead of going to work, he headed over to my mom's to decorate the house and pick up cake and other errands to celebrate my birthday. I was completely shocked (and a bit surprised that he was able to pull something like that off…). He even went so far as to make a lasagna last night after I went to bed (and clean and put away all the dishes so I wouldn't notice) to cook for dinner tonight so my mom wouldn't have to.
I feel so blessed to have him as a partner and father for my children. I am honored to be the mama to these two little kiddos. I only hope I can be half the mom to them that my mom was to me.
The only thing I wish I would have done today was taken a picture with my mom…The day was as much about her as it was about me, and somehow that didn't happen. (Oh wait, maybe that's because I had a daughter that was exhausted from having a grand total of 40 minutes worth of a nap all day and only wanted to be held by me, and a little boy who got a little more testy as the day went on due to his early morning and similar lack of a nap).
Thank you everyone for making this day/week so amazing. Here's to all the mamas out there, it the hardest job out there….
