What a week

It has been a crazy week!  I mentioned last week that A cut her first tooth.  Well this week she cut two more.  She has two top teeth and one bottom tooth.  That makes three teeth over the course of 6 days.  Needless to day we've had a few rough nights, but thank God for ibuprofen!  The second bottom tooth, and the next two top teeth are coming in next, and aren't far behind…

Monday was a low key day.  We spent the morning playing, and the afternoon with Grandma, Grandpa, and Aunt Barb to celebrate Grandma's birthday.  They all came over for dinner.  It was a later than usual night for the kids (well, for J at least), but you'd never guess that he was up past his bedtime. He was in such a great mood, and was a ball of energy.  I need to bottle that; it seems to be way more effective than my daily dose of caffeine (or two, or three).

Bath time has been interesting lately.  It's a struggle to keep A seated, all she wants to do is stand and cruise along objects, and the side of the bath tub is no exception.  We are making progress though.  She has discovered splashing recently, and now the two of them spend quite a bit of time splashing each other.  This of course means that whoever is giving the bath gets a shower in the process.

A: what the heck is he doing?!?!?!
We enjoyed some afternoon playtime outside on Wednesday.  With temperatures above 100, we try not to head outside until after 3 when our backyard is mostly shaded…but with a little boy who has no concept of how hot it is (I swear, he's just like his daddy, the heat doesn't seem to bother him), it's hard to keep him inside.

Friday we had a play date at an indoor playground.  Think McDonald's Play Place, but bigger (adults can fit up in the tubes and slides), and cleaner.  J was perfectly content riding around in the police car for the majority of the time we were there.  I did eventually get force him up the jungle gym, and that's when he realized it wasn't as bad or as scary as he thought it would be (except for the big plastic tunnels, he still didn't go in them).  He's a very cautious little boy.  Quite the opposite of his sister.  I put her on the floor, and she immediately crawled over to the semi-barrier to the playground, went up and over it, and headed straight for the cushion ramp that lead to the tunnels.  She then climbed those, and went through the tunnel all on her own (the same tunnels that J refused to go through at all).  She probably would have gone down the slide too (head first I'm sure) if I hadn't of been there to stop her.

Saturday was a crazy day.  I drove over 200 miles over the course of the day, circling the greater metro area, twice.  Why you ask?  Because there were so many cool people and places to go and see!  God was on my side, and the kids were amazingly well behaved for the most part (in spite of having essentially no naps).

That morning while I was getting my hair cut, J discovered an easier funner way to turn on the fans and lights in the house.  Now, when we ask him to turn a light/fan on/off, he runs and grabs his foam sword to do the hard work.  Takes him twice as long, but hey, he's working on some fine motor skills and eye/hand coordination, right?

this is what I came home to after my hair cut
I love this man more and more every day
After I got home, A was just waking from her nap, so I fed her real quick, gassed up the car, and head out to Mesa to celebrate a friend's first birthday!  After living it up there (and eating our weight in food; fruit for A and cake and chocolate popcorn for J), we headed to Tempe to pick up Uncle Allen.  On the way, A passed out.  The pic was snapped just before Uncle Allen got into the car, and woke her up… Once he was in, we headed out to Surprise for Uncle Michael's impromptu 40th Birthday Party, where again, the kids continued to eat.  Around 5, we said our good byes, took Uncle Allen back to Tempe and headed home.  J was out like a light the second his head hit the pillow (he had gotten up at 7 that morning, and went non stop without a nap until 730 that night).  A was over tired and over stimulated, and frankly pissed that I was putting her to bed after such a fun day, she protested until 830/845 when she finally passed out.  This mama poured herself a congratulatory glass of wine.  I survived the day.

Today was low key.  We were all recovering from the events of yesterday.  We played inside this morning, and I'm pretty sure every ball, car and block that we have in our two toy chests made it's way out and onto the floor.  and after naps, it was outside for a play date with the new splash-pad that Aunt Barb got for the kids.  A isn't so much a fan (though I think it has to do more with the water temperature than anything else), but once we got the right water pressure, J loved it (the water can't be spraying too hard or high or he wants nothing to do with it)

Add in two $1 spray bottles and you've got yourself a party!  The boys had more fun drinking out of the spray bottles than spraying each other, but who am I to judge.

yes, my son was trying to drink from the handle…
he did figure it out eventually

Afterwards it was inside to make dinner.  I made the mistake of leaving the cabinet open, and A decided to unload all the diapers and burp rags that are stored there.  Apparently she thinks it can be organized better.

I gave A some puffs to keep her happy while dinner was finishing up…J decided she didn't need them all, he was caught red-handed stealing her puffs.

 Until next week friends!
