What a busy, and fabulous holiday week! Monday, J decided to embrace the "Phoenix winter" by donning his sunglasses and hoodie all night - sans pants.
Tuesday we met up with some friends at the zoo. It was a great morning outing, and the zoo was relatively empty. So much so, that we were the only people near the baboon windows, with allowed both kids to get up close and see the baboons without being trampled or pushed aside.
Wednesday after work, the kids and I made "turkeys" to decorate our kitchen table with. They made great place markers for our Thanksgiving breakfast :) And for Thanksgiving breakfast, we had cinnamon roll turkeys. The kids were in heaven. As was Justin, we don't have bacon all that often (only when special friends and family visit).
After breakfast, we cuddled up on the couch to watch the DVR'd Macy's Day Parade. J flipped his lid when he saw the giant Thomas the Tank coming down the road. He also proceeded to find my coffee cup and finish up what was left in it….Thankfully I had drunk most of it….I think.
After A's early nap we headed over to Grandma's for some family time and a great meal. The kids enjoyed hanging out with Uncle Allen in the hammock, and J kept his eyes on everyone's drink…trying to snag a taste for himself.
A even tried to help clean up…or maybe she was just trying to grab more snacks...
Friday J woke up with a pretty nasty cold/chest congestion. Really it started Thursday night with him waking up every few hours and eventually him and me sleeping down on the couch. Thus started our jammie weekend. We I took his cold as a sign that we needed to slow down and catch our collective breaths. We made the most of our time at home with lots of stories, cuddles and playtime with cars and puzzles.
I even learned that A's hair is finally long enough (in the back at least) to put piggy tails in!!! If only she'd leave them in longer than 5 minutes - I do so love little girls in pig tails!
For dinner we had grilled cheese sandwiches and soup. A found the most resourceful way to steal tomato soup from my bowl for her sandwich - stab the sandwich with a fork, effectively making your arm longer, and then dunk it….brilliant little girl, brilliant.
Saturday brought a small excursion for a family play date, and then back home for lunch and naps, and more cuddles….
Today J is definitely feeling better. The spunky boy we know is back, but with a lingering cough/congestion - so hopefully tomorrow will bring more improvement. Today we broke out more puzzles, and I got to sit and watch the two work together on some of them (and fight over others)
While times may be difficult here and there, there is still SO MUCH to be thankful for. We wouldn't be where we are today without the love and support from all of our family and friends. We are thankful for each and every one of you. We may not say it as often as we should, but from the bottom of our hearts, WE LOVE YOU.
And thank you J and A for keeping me on my toes and my heart overflowing with love
