Whirlwind

 I don't know where this week went.  It seemed so long when it started, and now it seems like one of the shortest ever.

Over all, though, it was a really good week.  We had our share of temper tantrums and trials throughout the week, but we also had a lot of fun.

We picked up some wooden animals at the craft store and went to town painting them.  J got to pick out his own, and chose a horse.  He still talks about painting his horse, the tail too, and making sure the paint is dry before we play with them.  J also picked out A's animal - a butterfly...

...somehow we ended up enjoying our afternoon snack sitting on the kitchen floor...

…took pretend naps on Grandma's floor...

…stole shared dad's oatmeal for breakfast...

…worked hard to find the missing link in the kitchen...

…and shared another meal together at their own personal table (which is happening more frequently lately).

The highlight of the weekend was the trip to the zoo.  Grandma took the kids to the zoo for us last month while we were at the doctors - and we have taken them to the zoo a few times since then - but when asked what he did the other day, it was Grandma who took him to the zoo…even if it wasn't.  It's kind of endearing.  He also talks about driving helicopters "yesterday"…that was a month ago as well…

This trip was a little different in that it was just me and the kids.  Usually Justin goes with me, or my mom, or we meet up with some friends there - but not this week.  We still had a blast, and covered a lot of the zoo, but it was near impossible to take any pictures with kids going in opposite directions, or A secured in the sling, or perpetually taking J in and out of the stroller (or assisting him climbing in/out on his own).

After the zoo it was home for lunch and naps - J took a very good nap that day (he could barely keep his head up during lunch)

This morning J helped himself to breakfast...

…then we played hard.  We built block towers, and colored...

…and got to visit with Aunt Stacie, Aunt Stephanie, and Andrew who were passing through town (which included a delicious lunch out).
