So many new things this week!
Tuesday, Justin and I decided to finally celebrate our anniversary. Lets here it for two years! And let's be honest, we intentionally put it off so that we could celebrate without being out late and having to work in the morning, that goodness for the Fourth of July holiday! We went out to dinner, and Jayce stayed with Aunt Alex and Uncle Alan. While Justin and I had a really amazing dinner (that we were able to eat together, while it was still hot), and good conversation that wasn't interrupted with crying, or dogs barking, and didn't revolved around Jayce, Alex and Alan didn't have as good of a night. Unfortunately for them, Jayce wasn't his usual charming self. He had a short nap in the car on the way to their house (really only slept for the last 15 min, he was too busy playing with his new toy, Mortimer the Moose), then woke up when we dropped him off. He was pretty content and taking in his surroundings when we left, but that apparently did not last long. Alex said of the 2-3 hours they had him, they had about 5 minutes of a happy Jayce, the rest he was upset and crying. I think the was over stimulated in the new place, without mommy or daddy, and over tired. Hopefully the experience didn't scare or scar Alex and Alan...I promise he's usually a very good baby.
Fourth of July brought a cooler day (in the high 70s, low 80s) with some sprinkles and rain throughout the day. The three of us went to Grandma and Grandpas for some ribs and what was supposed to be pool time, but with the weather we ended up just hanging out inside, watching Twilight Zone. Jayce did get some quality Aunt Em time though, who was in town from NC.

This week's swim class was better than last weeks. Jayce was a little more comfortable in the water, though he still doesn't like water in his face, but we are working on that.

Saturday we hit another milestone...Jayce ROLLED OVER!!! He rolled from his back to his belly while laying on the couch (no, he did not roll off, and he was supervised by both Justin and myself)! He wasn't quite sure what was going on half way through the roll, but did eventually end up on his belly, and got his arm out from underneath him. Then he realized he was on his tummy, and that didn't make him super excited (and I'm sure he was very confused as to why Justin and I were cheering and clapping and making general fools out of ourselves). Needless to say, I don't think he was that impressed with the results, and hasn't really attempted it again yet, though every time I check on him in his crib or get him out of the crib in the morning, he's on his side...maybe he prefers that to his back?

Saturday night we went to Grandma and Grandpas for a wine tasting party. Jayce was supposed to sleep through some if not most of it, but he was way too interested in the new faces to close his eyes. The few times he closed his eyes and fell asleep he was awake within minutes of being laid down in his crib. So he pretty much just hung out with us rubbing his eyes and yawning every few minutes, but refusing to go to sleep. He finally knocked out around 10 (party started at 7, and he had woken up from a very short nap around 6) when we were rocking outside with everyone, winding down. He was down for the count, and didn't wake up during transfer to car seat, out of car seat, or into crib at home. He slept clear through to 6am.
After the eventfulness of Saturday, Sunday we went to church, Costco, and then the couch. We had a lazy, cuddle filled day.

Such fun stories! Jayce is growing up so quickly already! We were so spoiled to get to see you all so many times in the last month and half. We miss you guys!
