Sophie!

Jayce is a very happy, and playful baby.  And for the most part, he loves any toys he can get his hands on.  Unfortunately so do the dogs... Most of Jayce's toys are safe as long as they are in his hands, but all are apparently fair game once Jayce drops them, or we walk away.  There are always exceptions....Sophie is one of them.  Sophie is this adorable rubber teething giraffe that Jayce loves (and so does Gunnar).  Jayce loves gnawing on her face, though his favorite part of this toy is that it squeaks (which is also why Gunnar loves it).  Gunnar will stop at nothing to get his hands on Sophie, even standing in front of the moving swing (which Jayce used to hate, and Gunnar used to fear) to try and "gently" take it out of Jayce's hands.  I fear Sophie will never be safe....though for now she is alive.

Jayce is becoming much more interactive with his surroundings.  He is reaching for everything, and trying to grab it all.  Over the weekend he figured out how to make one of his toys move.  Attached to his car seat is this yellow [thing] (Grandma calls it a hippo, Dad says it Chicken-Cow from some cartoon or another, who knows) that can be pulled down, then shakes while it retracts up.  A week or so ago, Jayce loved watching it move up and down, and would giggle every time it went back up.  Now, he pulls it down on his own.  He's growing up so fast!

Jayce has discovered that he has toes, and he loves holding on to them.  He has even started using them to grab things (Grandma and I can't wait to show him how to pick things up with his toes, we will be so proud, though I think Dad is dreading the day).  The other morning I had him on the changing pad while I was clipping his nails.  Well, he decided he was going to lift his legs up, shove his feet into my hair, curl those precious toes, and pull.  Yep, my son used his feet to pull my hair, since his hands were otherwise detained...genius.

Jayce got a new toy this weekend, an activity saucer.  While he isn't quite sure what to make of it he does like the toys attached, and the noises/music it makes.  He's still feeling out the fact that he is sitting/standing in it instead of laying down...and I think after 10 minutes he gets tired and frustrated.  But a little bit every day and he'll be strong enough to play longer and spin around on his own...
