Two weeks ago we had my Aunt Barb, mom, Aunt Tweed, and cousins Melissa and Jacqueline over for wine, and Jayce charmed the pants off of them.
Anyway, we just got home from our first road trip with Jayce! We took advantage of some vacation time for a long weekend away in San Diego. We left Saturday morning, and Jayce did amazing. He was so well behaved in the car, and was a prince for the whole trip.
Saturday we spent the afternoon and evening hanging out at Aunt Stephanie's house. She even cooked us some dinner. Jayce got to meet and play with Max and Zoey as well. And that evening he met Aunt Marci (and his soon to be born girlfriend Isabella) over Skype, since they are currently living in Guam.
Sunday Aunt Stephanie had to work so the three of us drove up to Anaheim to hang out with Aunt Stacie and meet Aunt Carrie and Uncle Jim. Aunt Stacie took us to the beach!! Jayce dipped his toes into the Pacific Ocean for the first time (and then the wind and waves picked up and we were all too busy watching Jayce's reaction to notice the big wave coming, so Jayce ended up getting soaked by it...my huge bad mom moment of the trip...I felt terrible. Fortunately he didn't seem too off put by it, definitely surprised, but didn't really start crying till a few minutes later, probably because he was getting very cold). But he was super content to just chill out and relax on the beach in the shade of the beach umbrella that a friend let us borrow.
Monday we spent the day at the San Diego Zoo with Aunt Stephanie! Jayce got to see all sorts of animals, from baby jaguars, to polar bears, and Galapagos tortoises! He was so entranced by all the new sights, sounds, and smells! He really was a trooper. We were there for about 5 hours, and he was perfect the whole time. Even caught a brief nap too. That evening we went out to dinner and dessert with Aunt Stephanie, and even though he was out past his bed time, and an hour past when he would have normally eaten, he still wasn't as fussy as I would have expected. He was great during dinner, and dessert, just didn't want to be strapped back into his car seat - but passed out on the way back to the house, and didn't wake up until mean old mom undressed him for a bath (gotta get that sunscreen off!).

And Jayce has a new toy...the ipad - he LOVES it!

He even did great on the ride home today, just a little fussy after our stop in Yuma to eat and stretch our legs. But he did end up sleeping for 2.5 hours, which is a fabulous nap! Now its trying to get back to our normal routine. Enjoy the pictures! We love and miss you all!
