On the verge

So the exciting news is that Jayce took his first steps this week.  He took a grand total of two all by himself.  He then proceeded to get super excited, and flapped his arms up and down, which caused him to lose his balance.  He has yet to try again.  We do let him stand unsupported, but when he wants to move, he sits down and crawls away (and man does he crawl fast).

He has a new "toy" too.  The dining room table.  I have yet to push the chairs back in around it since Alex's baby shower, and all of mom's extra chairs are still stacked in the room too (figure I may be using the configuration and extra chairs for Jayce's birthday party), thus creating a massive obstacle course for a crawling child.  His favorite part of said obstacle course?  The shelf/landing on the pedestal of the table.  At first, he was only able to get himself into it and required assistance to get himself out, but now he has the where-with-all to do both.

And yes, sometimes he takes a break to sneak into the liquor cabinet (don't worry, he has yet to actually remove any bottles; he's just fascinated with doors, opening and closing them everywhere we go, repeatedly).

In other news, we (and yes, Justin did help out by doing the sanding, staining, and varnishing, so most of the work...) have completed our growth chart!  I was inspired from something I saw on Pintrest.  While it could be purchased for a reasonable amount of money on Etsy, it would require more to ship it that they hypothetical supplies would cost (though when all was said and done, I don't know that we actually saved that much money).  Anyway, this is the finished product, we just need to nail down where we are going to hang it....ideally before Jayce turns one...

And I'll leave you with a picture from this morning.  May be difficult to tell, but after crawling his way around the ottoman (passing between it and the couch), his hair was full of static and standing on end.

How far along? 17 weeks; baby is now approximately 5", or the average size of the palm of an adult hand
Total weight gain/loss: approximately 7 lbs...not too shabby
Maternity clothes? more and more; all pants are now maternity, way more comfortable, and about half of my tops; depends on which one
Stretch marks? no new ones; knock on wood
Sleep: getting a little bit more difficult to find a comfortable position; would probably be a bit easier if I wasn't so congested (thank you allergies)
Best moment this week: feeling the baby move; has happened at least once a day.  Baby still isn't big enough to feel all the movements, but I definitely know it is there
Miss Anything? could have really used a glass of wine (or two) after work a few days this week...would have settled for a beer...oh well
Food cravings: Nothing new.  Been really just favoring sweets, especially chocolate (which would explain why I've put on a few more lbs....
Anything making you queasy or sick: no, thank goodness
Have you started to show yet: I would say yes, one of the ladies I see every week at church asked me if I was pregnant again, and another who knew, said she noticed the bump today (must have just looked chunky last week...)
Gender prediction: still feeling the pink (or preferably purple) vibes...
Labor Signs: thankfully no...leaving those to Alex for now ;)
Belly Button in or out? still rocking the innie...though it is starting to stretch out
Wedding rings on or off? on for now
Happy or Moody most of the time: mostly happy (aside from when I'm stressed from work crap).  A few off days here and there, but I don't know if I would call them moody...maybe weepy?
Looking forward to: our next ultrasound and Jayce's first birthday and party...oh man...all in the same week!!!! (but alas, not this week ::tear::)
